Red stone Dust

The main and most common method of obtaining redstone dust is mining with a pickaxe from ore blocks that contain red dust.

It should be remembered that a stone or wooden pickaxe will not be able to extract redstone dust, the block will be destroyed without a drop. When a block of red ore is destroyed with an iron pickaxe (or higher), 4-5 pieces of red dust will fall out. If the pickaxe is enchanted for "Luck", then the amount of redstone dust produced will increase. If you mine a block of red ore with a pickaxe enchanted with a "Silk Touch", the block itself will fall out.

Redstone dust can be found in the chests of a Forest Mansion, in the trolleys of abandoned mines, in treasuries and fortresses. It is also found in the form of a wire in an ancient city.

In the form of a drop, redstone dust falls out after killing a witch in the amount of 0-6 units. The "Loot" enchantment on the instrument will increase the amount of drop.

Red dust can be bought from a villager cleric for 1 emerald.

9 units of redstone dust can be obtained from a block of red stone, which can be found in the secret room of the Ancient City. By the way, storing redstone dust in the form of a block of red stone is an excellent solution, since in this form it takes up much less space.

This is the main use of red dust in Minecraft. To create wires, you need to place red dust on the surface of a complete opaque block. A glowing stone will not conduct a signal, so it is often used as a block-plug.

Wires made of redstone dust are capable of conducting a signal for no more than 15 blocks. When transmitting by wire, the signal strength will drop by one with each block, and so on to zero. The brightness of the wire will also decrease. But if you use repeaters, then this limitation can be circumvented. Each repeater again increases the signal conductivity by 15 blocks, even if it itself received a signal with a strength of only 1 unit.

A wire made of redstone dust can be placed on a vertical surface, thereby lifting "steps" with the help of touching blocks to the desired height.

For the first time, redstone dust appeared in the Alpha version and was called "Red Ore Dust". In the Beta version, it could be installed on snow and on a lightstone.

With the release of the Official version, red dust has received additional properties. For example, in version 1.1 it became possible to open and close gates with its help, and in version 1.3.1 it became a renewable resource, since it became possible to buy it from villagers.

In version 1.4.2, it became a drop of witches introduced into the game, and in version 1.5, it became part of the crafting recipe for the red stone block and the ejector.

An important change has been made in version 1.16: if you right-click on the red dust isolated on the block, it will change its shape from a cross to a dot. Moreover, it does not transmit a signal in the form of a dot, but transmits it in the form of a cross. If the red dust wire is no longer insulated (connected to something), then it is no longer possible to switch the shape.
