For the first time, the sculk shrieker block was shown on Minecraft Live 2021. He appeared in the game already with update 1.19 "Caves and Rocks" together with the Supervisor.

The sculk shrieker block has strength of 3 and can be destroyed most quickly with a hoe, while 5 experience points will fall out. If you get a sculk shrieker with a tool with the "Silk Touch" charm, then the player will receive the sculk shrieker block itself in the inventory, but the experience will not fall out. After it is mined, it will lose the ability to summon the overseer.

The sculk shrieker is the most dangerous block of the sculk family. If a player accidentally stands on a sculk shrieker, or a rolling sensor transmits a signal to him, the sculk shrieker will activate and start making loud noises.
The sculk shrieker is activated if:

• the player will step on it.
• there is an acoustic sensor next to the sculk shrieker, then any sound will trigger the activation of sculk shrieker.
• the player is next to him for more than 10 minutes.
• any object will fall on top of him.

Each time the screamer is activated, one point will be added to the player's "warning" level. At the same time, the player will hear the sound of the warden's heartbeat and the click of the sculk sensor. At the same time, the player will receive an overlay of the "Darkness" effect for 12 seconds if he is no further than 40 blocks from the sculk shrieker. As soon as the player's warning level reaches 4, the supervisor will be woken up. If there is already a woken warden within 48 blocks, then another one will not appear.

Attention: Warning levels are not considered for the sculk shriekers, but for a specific player. Thus, even if a player activates each of the four sculk shriekers once, the number of activations for the player will be equal to four.

If the player stops activating the sculk shrieker before the supervisor appears, the warning level will begin to decrease by one level every 10 minutes until it is completely reset. If the warden has already appeared, the warning level will not reset. At each subsequent activation, a warden will be called.

• Only a naturally generated sculk shrieker will be able to summon the overseer. Sculk shriekers, which were formed with the help of a sculk catalyst, will not summon a warden.
• You can activate the sculk shrieker at a distance if you fire a projectile in the direction of the sensors that are next to the sculk shriekers.
• Sculk shriekers have a delay of 10 seconds between two activations. They are all interconnected. If one sculk shrieker has just been activated, then no other one will be able to activate for 10 seconds. This is a great opportunity to move away from the danger zone as far as possible.
• The design of the sculk shrieker is based on the human larynx.
• The sculk shrieker cannot be activated by any other mobs, but only by the player.
• If you put blocks of wool on the sculk shrieker, it will not be able to receive a signal from the sensor and will not be activated.
• The sculk shrieker makes a sound of exactly 90 game bars (4.5 seconds).
• The sculk shrieker can be activated by a red stone signal.
